Except for the addition of 20 Pa.C.S. Ch. 54, the amendment of 20 Pa.C.S. shall apply to all guardianship proceedings in which petitions for the appointment of a guardian are filed subsequent to the effective date of this section. Where a petition has been filed prior to the effective date of this section but where a guardian has not yet been appointed, the procedures of the amendment of 20 Pa.C.S., except for the addition of 20 Pa.C.S. Ch. 54, shall apply. Existing guardianship may be modified by the court in accordance with the amendment of 20 Pa.C.S., except for the addition of 20 Pa.C.S.
