(a) General rule.-- Except as otherwise provided in this section or in subsequent provisions of this article, this article shall apply to and the words "corporation" or "foreign nonprofit corporation" in this article shall include every foreign corporation not-for-profit. (b) Government entities.-- This article shall also apply to and the words "corporation," "foreign corporation" and "foreign nonprofit corporation" shall include a government or other sovereign (other than the Commonwealth) and any governmental corporation, agency or other entity thereof. (c) Admitted foreign fraternal benefit society exclusion.-- This article shall not apply to any foreign corporation not-for-profit qualified to do business in this Commonwealth under section 2455 of the act of May 17, 1921 (P.L.682, No.284), known as The Insurance Company Law of 1921.
