(1) All subdivision and partition plats shall be indexed in the recording indices of the county. The declarations to such plats shall also be indexed in the indices of Records of Deeds for the county. When the subdivision and partition plats are so recorded and indexed, they shall be the legal record of all subdivision and partition plats. (2) Counties with a consolidated index may index plats in the consolidated index. The declarants shall be indexed as the direct parties and the plat name shall be indexed as the indirect party. (3) The subdivision and partition plats shall be preserved as the permanent record of the county. [Amended by 1955 c.756 18; 1989 c.772 20; 1995 c.79 33; 1999 c.654 6,6a]
