(1) An authorized representative of the Department of Transportation may require a person driving a vehicle or combination of vehicles subject to regulation by the department on a street or highway to stop and submit to an inspection of the driver, the cargo or the vehicle or combination of vehicles at any location where representatives of the department are conducting tests and inspections when signs are displayed requiring such stop. (2) As used in this section, authorized representative means a city, county or state employee who has been trained and certified by the department as a commercial vehicle inspector and who is employed either by the department or by an agency that has an agreement with the department to provide inspections of commercial vehicles, drivers, general cargo or hazardous materials.
