(1) A person commits the offense of unlawful interference with a traffic control device or railroad sign if the person, without lawful authority and with criminal negligence, attempts to or does alter, deface, injure, knock down or remove any traffic control device or any railroad sign or signal or any inscription, shield or insignia thereon or any other part thereof. (2) The offense described in this section, unlawful interference with traffic control device or railroad sign, is a Class A traffic violation.
