(1) Except as provided in subsection (2) of this section, an officer, employee or contractor of the Department of Transportation may not knowingly disclose, or otherwise make available to any person copies of, identity source documents submitted to the department in connection with an application for a driver license, driver permit or identification card. (2) An officer, employee or contractor of the department may make information or copies described in subsection (1) of this section available to the agency that issued the identity source document for the purpose of verifying the identity source document.
