Permitting unlawful operation of unregistered vehicle; penalty

(1) A person commits the offense of permitting unlawful operation of an unregistered vehicle if the person authorizes or knowingly permits a motor vehicle that is owned by the person or under the persons control and that is not registered as required under the vehicle code or ORS chapter 826 to be driven by any person.
(2) The offense described in this section, permitting unlawful operation of unregistered vehicle, is a Class D traffic violation.
