(1) If this state has issued title for a vehicle, the vehicle shall remain titled by this state and subject to all of the provisions of the vehicle code relating to vehicles titled by this state until one of the following occurs: (a) The vehicle becomes legally titled under the laws of another jurisdiction. (b) The owner of the vehicle establishes that the vehicle is no longer subject to the vehicle titling requirements under the vehicle code by a method recognized or established by the Department of Transportation. (c) A salvage title is issued for the vehicle. (2) Subsection (1) of this section applies to a vehicle issued title by this state even if one of the following applies to the vehicle: (a) At some time after issuance of the title by this state, the vehicle becomes eligible for an exemption from titling requirements under ORS 803.030 or for any other reason. (b) The issuance of the title was permissive under ORS 803.035. (c) The vehicle is not required to comply with vehicle titling provisions of the vehicle code for any reason.
