Purpose

(1) The purpose of the Life and Health Insurance Policy Language Simplification Act is to establish minimum standards for language used in policies and certificates of life insurance and health insurance delivered or issued for delivery in this state in order to facilitate ease of reading.
(2) ORS 743.100 to 743.109 is not intended to increase the risk assumed by insurers or to supersede their obligation to comply with the substance of other Insurance Code provisions applicable to insurance policies. ORS 743.100 to 743.109 is not intended to impede flexibility and innovation in the development of policy forms or content or to lead to the standardization of policy forms or content.
