The Health Licensing Office shall adopt rules to regulate the practice of lactation counselors and lactation educators. The rules must include at least rules to: (1) Establish continuing education requirements for lactation counselors and lactation educators; (2) Establish standards of practice for lactation counselors and lactation educators; (3) Establish an authorization for lactation counselors and lactation educators; (4) Prohibit the unauthorized practice as a lactation counselor or lactation educator, and prohibit the unauthorized use of the title lactation counselor or lactation educator; and (5) Specify that a lactation counselor or lactation educator may provide services to a client who was pregnant regardless of the clients birth outcome.
