Defendants plea; refusal to plead

(1) The defendant may plead the same pleas as upon an indictment. The plea shall be oral and entered in the docket. If the defendant refuses to plead, the justice shall enter the fact, together with the plea of not guilty, on behalf of the defendant.
(2) Notwithstanding ORS 53.150 and 135.335, in a justice court that has not become a court of record, a defendant may not enter a conditional plea of guilty or no contest, but may seek to transfer the case to the circuit court as provided in ORS 51.053 (2). [Formerly 156.080]
