Definition of cider

For the purposes of this chapter, cider means an alcoholic beverage made from the fermentation of the juice of apples or pears that contains not less than one-half of one percent and not more than 8.5 percent of alcohol by volume, including, but not limited to, flavored, sparkling, carbonated or fortified cider.
