Information regarding apprenticeship programs and veterans education benefits

(1) As used in this section:
(a) County veterans service officer means a county veterans service officer appointed under ORS 408.410.
(b) Veterans organization means a veterans organization that has been accredited by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.
(2) The Department of Veterans Affairs shall, in consultation with the Apprenticeship and Training Division of the Bureau of Labor and Industries, prepare written material in print or electronic form regarding opportunities to work as an apprentice, as defined in ORS 660.010, in this state. The department shall update the material at least once per calendar year.
(3) The Department of Veterans Affairs shall make the material described in subsection (2) of this section available on a website maintained by the department and shall also provide the material to the following entities for distribution to veterans:
(a) County veterans service officers;
(b) The Bureau of Labor and Industries;
(c) The Employment Department;
(d) The Oregon Military Department;
(e) The Oregon National Guard; and
(f) Any veterans organizations identified by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
(4) The Department of Veterans Affairs shall provide annual training to county veterans service officers and veterans organizations regarding apprenticeship programs and federal and state veterans education benefits.
