(1) There is established an Oregon Climate Service to be located at Oregon State University. The service shall acquire, maintain, disseminate and interpret climate data and information for the state. (2) The service shall: (a) Assess the needs for weather and climate information in Oregon and establish priorities among the needs. (b) Perform a service to citizens of Oregon by managing climate data for the state, and by disseminating such data and information to users. (c) Assist in the coordination of existing activities within the state and among neighboring states. (d) Advise regional, state and local government on climate related issues. (e) Assist students and faculty at the public universities listed in ORS 352.002 by furnishing data and information needed in education and research programs. (f) Study and analyze the relationships between climatic phenomena and activities in areas such as agriculture, water resources, energy production and use, air quality, building design and construction, transportation and communication, and business and commerce. (g) Identify emerging climatic issues and anticipate public demand for information. (h) Inform state, federal and private groups and the public on the availability and sources of climate-related services, information and data. [Formerly 352.245]
