(1) There is created a Teacher Standards and Practices Commission consisting of 17 members appointed by the Governor subject to confirmation by the Senate in the manner provided in ORS 171.562 and 171.565. (2) The term of office of a member is three years. Before the expiration of the term of a member, the Governor shall appoint a successor to assume the duties on January 1 next following. A member is eligible for reappointment but only for one additional term. In case of a vacancy for any cause, the Governor shall make an appointment to become immediately effective for the unexpired term. (3) Any member who through change of employment standing or other circumstances no longer meets the criteria for the position to which the member was appointed shall no longer be eligible to serve in that position, and the position on the commission shall become vacant 60 days following the members change in circumstances.
