(1) A school district that withdraws from an education service district as provided by ORS 334.015 and that seeks to fill a vacant position of employment shall interview persons who: (a) Were employed by the education service district prior to the withdrawal of the school district; and (b) Performed duties similar to the duties that will be performed in the position that the school district is seeking to fill. (2) Nothing in this section requires a school district to interview a person who had been employed by an education service district if the school district does not have a similar and vacant position. (3) The interview requirement described in this section does not apply to the superintendent of the education service district or to any other administrators, as defined in ORS 342.120, of the education service district. (4) The interview requirement described in this section applies only during the 12 calendar months immediately following the effective date of the withdrawal of the school district from the education service district.
