Duties of Education and Workforce Policy Advisor

(1) The Education and Workforce Policy Advisor, in consultation with the Department of Education, the Higher Education Coordinating Commission, the Bureau of Labor and Industries, the Oregon Business Development Department and the Department of Human Services, shall propose policies and strategies consistent with this chapter.
(2) The Education and Workforce Policy Advisors policies and strategies must take into account that:
(a) The state must promote innovative thinking with respect to the curriculum and educational delivery system of Oregon public schools;
(b) The state must require of all youth a level of achievement that prepares them to pursue college, career and technical education programs, apprenticeships, work-based training and school-to-work programs;
(c) Greater employer investment is essential in the ongoing training of all workers to meet workforce needs;
(d) The state must encourage Oregon businesses to improve productivity by creating high performance work organizations that provide high skills and high wage opportunities for youth and adults; and
(e) All employment-related training, education and job placement services and sources of funds must be coordinated among state agencies and boards and must complement the states overall efforts on behalf of youth and adults.
