The sale of property to the county on foreclosure for delinquent taxes does not affect the former owners right to possession of the property during the period of redemption. However, any waste of the property, committed by the former owner or by anyone acting under permission or control of the former owner, shall work a forfeiture to the county of the right to such possession and, in addition, shall be punished as provided in ORS 312.990.
