In furtherance of the state economic development strategy developed under ORS 284.570, the Department of Transportation shall: (1) Develop a process to prioritize funding for transportation projects that further the state economic development strategy. (2) Develop and maintain state transportation policies and a comprehensive long-range plan for a safe, multimodal transportation system that encourages economic efficiency and orderly economic development and that maximizes the use of existing transportation infrastructure. (3) Take actions that are necessary to ensure that department policies and activities are implemented in a manner that supports the state economic development strategy. (4) Expedite the processing of permits issued by the department for transportation projects that further the state economic development strategy.
