(1) The State Land Board shall appoint a Director of the Department of State Lands to serve for a term of four years, subject to removal at the discretion of the board. (2) The director shall receive such salary as is fixed by the board. In addition to salary, subject to applicable law regulating travel and other expenses of state officers, the director shall be reimbursed for actual and necessary travel and other expenses incurred in the performance of official duties. (3) The salaries and other expenses of the director and employees of the Department of State Lands shall be paid out of revenues accruing to the Common School Fund.
