(1) The Department of Justice Client Trust Account is established in the State Treasury, separate and distinct from the General Fund. All moneys in the account are appropriated continuously and shall be used by the Department of Justice for payments to persons and agencies on whose behalf the department has received moneys. (2) The trust account established by this section shall consist of moneys received by the Department of Justice on behalf of persons and agencies and temporarily credited to the account prior to distribution of the moneys in accordance with law. (3) Subaccounts may be established within the Department of Justice Client Trust Account when the department determines that subaccounts are necessary or desirable. (4) Notwithstanding ORS 293.140, interest earned on moneys deposited in the trust account or in any of its subaccounts shall be credited to the account or subaccount. Note: 180.200 was enacted into law by the Legislative Assembly but was not added to or made a part of ORS chapter 180 or any series therein by legislative action.
