A. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation shall be under the operational control of a Director. The Director shall be appointed or dismissed by a majority vote of the total membership of the Commission. The Director shall be a professional law enforcement officer who possesses a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and who shall have a minimum of five (5) years' experience in criminal investigation and/or law enforcement or five (5) years' experience as an agent with said Bureau and must have at least two (2) years' experience in an administrative position. B. Any Director appointed on or after July l, 2003, may participate in either the Oklahoma Public Employees Retirement System or in the Oklahoma Law Enforcement Retirement System and shall make an irrevocable election in writing to participate in one of the two retirement systems.
