Title 70. Schools: Student visits to correctional institutions -

Purpose.
A.  It is the intent of the Legislature that children residing
in this state understand the seriousness of conviction for criminal
behavior and the resulting punishment.  The purpose of visits to
correctional institutions provided for herein shall be to
demonstrate to pupils the harmful effects of incarceration on the
life of an inmate.
B.  Public school districts may provide for at least one visit
per school year for pupils in the eighth grade or a higher grade to
a state correctional institution.  Transportation shall be provided
pursuant to Section 9-108 of Title 70 of the Oklahoma Statutes.  The
State Department of Education shall promulgate rules to implement
the provisions of this section.
