If major surgery, general anesthesia; or a life-threatening procedure has to be undertaken on a minor, it shall be necessary for the physician to obtain concurrence from another physician except in an emergency in a community where no other surgeon can be contacted within a reasonable time. In cases where emergency care is needed and the minor is unable to give self-consent; a parent, spouse or legal guardian may authorize consent.
