Title 59. Professions And Occupations: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse education programs

A.  Effective January 1, 2016, advanced practice registered
nursing education programs that the applicant has successfully
completed must meet the following requirements to be considered for
approval by the Board:
1.  The education program must be a graduate-level program
offered by a university accredited by an accrediting body that is
recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for
Higher Education Accreditation;
2.  The program holds accreditation or holds candidacy, pre-
accreditation, or applicant status for accreditation from the
National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, the Commission
on Collegiate Nursing Education, the American College of Nurse-
Midwives Division on Accreditation, or the American Association of
Nurse Anesthetists’ Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia
Educational Programs; and
3.  The curriculum of the program must prepare the graduate to
practice in one of the four identified advanced practice registered
nurse roles and in at least one of the six population foci.
B.  The Board shall, by administrative rules, set requirements
for approval of advanced practice registered nursing education

programs, approve such programs as meet the requirements, and
identify the process for determining program compliance with
standards.
