Title 59. Professions And Occupations: Award of educational credits

A.  In addition to any other power, duty or function authorized
for institutions of higher education or career and technology
centers, each governing board shall adopt, not later than January 1,
2013, a policy authorizing the institution or career and technology
center under the board’s supervision and management to award
educational credits to a student enrolled in the institution or
career and technology center who is also honorably discharged from
the Armed Forces of the United States within three (3) years of
initial enrollment, for courses that are part of the student’s
military training or service and that meet the standards of the
American Council on Education (ACE) or equivalent standards for
awarding academic credit if the award of educational credit is based
upon the institution’s or technical career center’s admission
standards and its role, scope and mission.
B.  Each governing board shall adopt necessary rules and
procedures to implement the provisions of this section effective
beginning with the 2013-2014 academic year, and continuing
thereafter.
