Title 26. Elections: Appointment of counters - Compensation

In the event a hand count of ballots is required, counters may
be appointed by the secretary of the county election board only as
authorized by the Secretary of the State Election Board for any
election.  Insofar as is possible, no more than one-half (1/2) of
the counters shall be members of the same political party.  The
Secretary of the State Election Board may prescribe procedures
regarding the appointment and duties of counters.  Counters shall be
compensated at the same rate as a judge and clerk.
