Title 11. Cities And Towns: Office of public defender

The city governing body may create the office of public
defender.  The public defender shall be charged upon order of any
judge of the municipal criminal court of record with the protection
of the rights of any defendant charged with violation of any
ordinance in the court.  The city governing body may provide for
necessary office supplies and equipment and arrange for sufficient
office space in public buildings.
