Title 11. Cities And Towns: Municipal governing body - Rewards - Reward fund

A.  A municipal governing body is authorized to offer and pay a
reward, from municipal funds, in an amount not to exceed One
Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) for the arrest and conviction, or for
evidence leading to the arrest and conviction of any person stealing
or defacing municipal road signs or other municipal owned property.
B.  The municipal governing body may create and maintain a
reward fund from which to pay the rewards provided for in subsection
A of this section.  The municipal governing body shall determine the
amount and source of funds necessary to pay the rewards authorized
in subsection A of this section.
C.  Any person convicted of theft or defacing municipal road
signs or other municipal owned property may, in lieu of other fines
and penalties, be required to deposit like amount into the reward
fund established pursuant to this section.
D.  A municipal governing body shall not be required to provide
rewards or create a reward fund pursuant to the provisions of this
section.
