Scenic Rivers Protection Fund.

There is hereby created in the state treasury the scenic rivers protection fund. The fund shall consist of the donations to the fund received by the department of natural resources under section 1517.02 of the Revised Code and the contributions not to exceed forty dollars that are paid to the registrar of motor vehicles by applicants who voluntarily choose to obtain scenic rivers license plates pursuant to section 4503.56 of the Revised Code.
The donations and contributions deposited in the fund shall be used by the department to help finance conservation, education, protection, restoration, and habitat enhancement and clean-up projects within the watersheds of wild, scenic, and recreational rivers. The chief of the division of natural areas and preserves may expend money in the fund for the acquisition of scenic river lands, for the maintenance, protection, and administration of wild, scenic, and recreational rivers, and for the construction of facilities within scenic river lands and any other publicly owned lands that are administered by the division and are within the watersheds of those rivers. All investment earnings of the fund shall be credited to the fund.
As used in this section, "wild river," "scenic river lands," "scenic river," and "recreational river" have the same meanings as in section 1517.01 of the Revised Code.
