Effective: October 29, 1993 Latest Legislation: Senate Bill 153 - 120th General Assembly (A) The purposes of this chapter are the following: (1) To protect and enhance the quality of the state's air resources so as to promote the public health, welfare, economic vitality, and productive capacity of the people of the state; (2) To enable the state, through the director of environmental protection, to adopt and maintain a program for the prevention, control, and abatement of air pollution that is consistent with the federal Clean Air Act; (3) To authorize the state to obtain financial assistance and delegation of powers from the federal government for purposes of the prevention, control, and abatement of air pollution. (B) This chapter, all rules adopted under it, and all permits, variances, and orders issued under it shall be construed, to the extent reasonably possible, to be consistent with the federal Clean Air Act and to promote the purposes of this chapter.
