Effective: January 1, 2025 Latest Legislation: House Bill 33 - 135th General Assembly (A) At the time of the initial home study, and every two years thereafter, if the home study is updated, and until it becomes part of a final decree of adoption or an interlocutory order of adoption, the agency or attorney that arranges an adoption for the prospective adoptive parent shall conduct a search of the United States department of justice national sex offender public web site regarding the prospective adoptive parent and all persons eighteen years of age or older who reside with the prospective adoptive parent. (B) A petition for adoption may be denied based solely on the results of the search of the national sex offender public web site. (C) The director of children and youth shall adopt rules in accordance with Chapter 119. of the Revised Code necessary for the implementation and execution of this section.
