Effective: October 1, 1953 Latest Legislation: House Bill 1 - 100th General Assembly The sheriff or jailer may discharge a person imprisoned on mesne or final process issued in a civil proceeding, when there is no money in his hands to pay for the sustenance of the prisoner, or he may detain such prisoner and hold the adverse party liable for such sustenance.
