Effective: September 3, 1996 Latest Legislation: House Bill 462 - 121st General Assembly A municipal corporation, county, or township may undergo a fiscal watch review to determine whether it is approaching a state of fiscal emergency. A fiscal watch review shall be initiated by a written request to the auditor of state from the mayor of the municipal corporation, or the presiding officer of the legislative authority of the municipal corporation when authorized by a majority of the members of the legislative authority; from a board of county commissioners, or the county executive of a county formed under Chapter 302. of the Revised Code; or from a board of township trustees; or may be initiated by the auditor of state. The auditor of state shall acknowledge receipt of a written request for a fiscal watch review by sending a copy of it, stamped with the date received by the auditor of state's office, to the public official or board requesting a review.
