Documenting customer identity

Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a financial institution, trust company, or credit 
union may make and retain a copy of any motor vehicle operator's license, permit, or nondriver's 
photo identification card used in connection with the process of verifying the identity of a 
customer or potential customer.
