Election and qualification of members of board of park commissioners

1. The members of the board of park commissioners shall possess the qualifications of 
electors of the city and must be elected by the qualified electors of the park district. 
The members of the first board may be elected at any regular city election or at a 
special election called for that purpose by the governing body of the city. After the first 
board is elected, the members of the board must be elected at the regular city 
elections.
2. The elected members shall qualify by the first day of July following their election by 
taking and filing with the city auditor the oath prescribed for civil officers. The board of 
park commissioners may enter into an agreement with the governing body of the city 
concerning sharing of election personnel, printing of election materials, and 
apportioning of election expenses.
3. The board of park commissioners may adopt the same signature threshold for 
nominating petitions for candidates to the board of park commissioners when a city 
governing board has exercised its authority under subsection 9 of section 40 -05.1-06 
to change the signature threshold for nominating petitions for city candidates.
