Horse meat - Requirements

A person may not sell, transport, offer for sale or transportation, or receive for transportation 
in intrastate commerce carcasses of horses, mules, or other equines or meat food products 
derived from them, unless they are plainly and conspicuously marked, labeled, or otherwise 
identified to show the kinds of animals from which they were derived. The commissioner by rule 
may require that the preparation of equine carcasses and equine meat food products take place 
in establishments separate from those in which cattle, sheep, swine, or goats are slaughtered or 
in which their carcasses or meat food products are prepared.
