Additional means of service

1. Service in any action, suit, or proceeding is, in addition to the manner provided in 
section 26.1-01-04, valid if served upon any person within this state who on behalf of 
the insurance company is:
a. Soliciting insurance;
b. Making, issuing, or delivering any insurance contract; or

c. Collecting or receiving any premium membership fee, assessment, or other 
consideration for insurance.
2. A copy of the process must be sent within ten days thereafter by registered mail by the 
plaintiff or the plaintiff's attorney, to the defendant at the defendant's last -known 
principal place of business.
3. The defendant's receipt, or the receipt issued by the post office with which the letter is 
registered or certified, showing the name of the sender of the letter, the name and 
address of the person to whom the letter is addressed, and the affidavit of the person 
mailing the letter showing a compliance herewith must be filed with the clerk of the 
court in which the action is pending on or before the date the defendant is required to 
appear or within such further time as the court allows.
