Federal aid for special education

1. The superintendent of public instruction may apply for, receive, and administer federal 
aid available for the provision of special education services to students.
2. The superintendent may expend any federal aid received in the administration of this 
chapter within the limits of legislative appropriations.
3. School districts and multidistrict special education units are deemed to be local 
education agencies for purposes related to the funding of special education services 
within the limits of legislative appropriations.
4. North Dakota vision services - school for the blind, the school for the deaf, the life skills 
and transition center, the youth correctional center, and the state hospital may apply 
for, receive, and administer federal aid and may expend federal aid within the limits of 
legislative appropriations.
