1. In order to be counted for the purpose of calculating per student payments, as provided for by this chapter, a high school student must be enrolled in at least four high school units. The units may include career and technical education courses offered in accordance with chapter 15 -20.1 and courses that are approved by the superintendent of public instruction and offered by another high school district. 2. If a student is enrolled for graduation in a nonpublic school or if a student is taking fewer than four high school units and is enrolled in an approved alternative high school education program, the school district in which the student is enrolled is entitled to receive proportionate payments.
