The petition for the formation of a new county under this chapter shall: 1. Describe the territory proposed to be taken for the new county. 2. Set forth the name of the proposed new county. 3. Be signed by a majority of the qualified electors residing in the territory to be taken from the existing county or counties as determined by the vote cast for the office of governor at the last preceding general election. 4. Pray for the formation of a new county from the territory described in such petition.
