(a) It is unlawful for any person to communicate a threat of injury to a person, or to damage the property of another, as punishment or retaliation against a person for having withdrawn from a criminal gang. (a1) It is unlawful for any person to injure a person as punishment or retaliation against a person for having withdrawn from a criminal gang. (b) A violation of subsection (a) of this section is a Class G felony. A violation of subsection (a1) of this section is a Class F felony.
