§ 16. Treatment and care. A volunteer firefighter injured in line of\nduty shall be entitled to receive medical, surgical, podiatric,\nchiropractic, psychological and other attendance and treatment, nurse\nand hospital service, medicine, crutches, artificial members, devices,\nappliances, and apparatus, including the replacement and repair thereof,\nfor such period as the nature of the injury or the process of recovery\nmay require and the political subdivision liable for the payment of\nbenefits to the volunteer firefighter under this chapter because of such\ninjury shall be liable therefor and the cost thereof shall be audited,\nraised and paid as provided in section thirty of this chapter. The\nprovisions of sections thirteen to thirteen-m, both inclusive, and\nsections nineteen to nineteen-b, both inclusive, of the workers'\ncompensation law, to the extent that such provisions are not\ninconsistent with this chapter, shall be applicable in relation to any\ninjured volunteer firefighter, political subdivision and third persons\nas fully as if set forth in this chapter.\n
