Establishment of a commission for village manager

§ 18-1820 Establishment of a commission for village manager. The board\nof trustees of any village may, as an alternative to the adoption of a\nlocal law establishing the position of village manager, adopt a local\nlaw providing for the creation of a commission to study and prepare a\nlocal law establishing the position of village manager and defining the\nduties and responsibilities thereof. Such local law shall be subject to\na permissive referendum. The local law creating the commission shall\nprovide for the organization and method of procedure for such\ncommission, including, but not limited to, (a) the number of members of\nsuch commission, which shall not exceed seven and of which number more\nthan one-half shall not be members of the board of trustees, (b) the\ncompensation, if any, of the members of the commission, (c) the\nemployment of staff or consultants, if any, and (d) the date by which\nsuch commission shall report its recommendations to the board, which\ndate shall be no later than two years after the final appointment of all\nmembers of the commission. The appointment of members of the commission,\nand the filling of any vacancies on such commission, shall be made as\nprovided in this chapter.\n
