§ 16. Treatment and care. A volunteer ambulance worker injured in line\nof duty shall be entitled to receive medical, surgical, podiatric,\nchiropractic, psychological and other attendance and treatment, nurse\nand hospital service, medicine, crutches, artificial members, devices,\nappliances, and apparatus, including the replacement and repair thereof,\nfor such period as the nature of the injury or the process of recovery\nmay require and the political subdivision or volunteer ambulance company\nliable for the payment of benefits to the volunteer ambulance worker\nunder this chapter because of such injury shall be liable therefor and\nthe cost thereof shall be audited, raised and paid as provided in\nsection thirty of this chapter. The provisions of sections thirteen to\nthirteen-m, both inclusive, and sections nineteen to nineteen-b, both\ninclusive, of the workers' compensation law, to the extent that such\nprovisions are not inconsistent with this chapter, shall be applicable\nin relation to any injured volunteer ambulance worker, political\nsubdivision and third persons as fully as if set forth in this chapter.\n
