* § 404-t. Distinctive "peace at home" license plates. 1. Any person\nresiding in this state shall, upon request, be issued a distinctive\n"peace at home" license plate of a design approved by the commissioner\nin support of domestic violence awareness and prevention. Application\nfor said license plate shall be filed with the commissioner in such form\nand detail as the commissioner shall prescribe.\n 2. A distinctive "peace at home" license plate issued pursuant to this\nsection shall be issued in the same manner as other number plates upon\nthe payment of the regular registration fee prescribed by section four\nhundred one of this article, provided, however, that an additional\nannual service charge of twenty-five dollars shall be charged for such\nplate. Each twenty-five dollars received as annual service charges under\nthis section shall be deposited to the credit of the domestic violence\nawareness fund established pursuant to section ninety-seven-yyy of the\nstate finance law and shall be used for educational and prevention\nprograms undertaken pursuant to article twenty-one of the executive law.\nProvided, however that one year after the effective date of this section\nfunds in the amount of six thousand dollars, or so much thereof as may\nbe available, shall be allocated to the department to offset costs\nassociated with the production of such license plates.\n * NB There are 3 § 404-t's\n
