§ 304-a. Certified inspectors. (a) The commissioner shall issue a\ncertificate to an individual authorizing such person to conduct\ninspections under this article. No person shall conduct an inspection\nunless that person is a certified inspector. The commissioner may\nestablish a classified system of certified inspectors.\n  (b) The fee for filing such an application shall be ten dollars. Such\nfee shall not be refundable. The annual fee for certification as an\ninspector shall be five dollars. A certification shall expire on any\ndate determined by the commissioner.\n  (c) The commissioner may, by regulation, establish standards of\ncompetency and fitness for certification as an inspector.\n  * (d) Fees, deposited. Fees assessed under this section shall be paid\nto the commissioner for deposit to the transportation safety account\nestablished pursuant to section ninety-one of the state finance law\nthrough March thirty-first, two thousand four and from April first, two\nthousand four and thereafter shall be deposited to the dedicated highway\nand bridge trust fund.\n  * NB Effective until April 1, 2028\n  * (d) Fees, deposited. Fees assessed under this section shall be paid\nto the commissioner for deposit to the transportation safety account\nestablished pursuant to section ninety-one of the state finance law.\n  * NB Effective April 1, 2028\n
