§ 203. Oaths and acknowledgments. The commissioner of motor vehicles,\na deputy commissioner, an assistant deputy commissioner or a motor\nvehicle referee shall have power to administer oaths and take affidavits\nand acknowledgments in relation to any matter or proceeding in the\nexercise of the powers or the performance of the duties of the\ncommissioner under this chapter. Any officer or employee of the\ndepartment of motor vehicles, designated for that purpose by the\ncommissioner of motor vehicles, or any assistant to a county clerk as\nmay be designated by such county clerk, shall have power to take any\naffidavit or acknowledgment which any person is required to file with\nthe department of motor vehicles.\n
