§ 2603. Vote on creation of the district court system. At the general\nelection to be held in nineteen hundred sixty-two there shall be\nsubmitted to all the electors of the various towns of Suffolk county,\nincluding the electors within incorporated villages, the following two\npropositions, provided not less than one hundred twenty days before such\nelection the town board of such town adopts a resolution authorizing\nsuch submission and a copy thereof, duly certified by the clerk of such\nboard, shall have been filed with the board of elections of the county\nand resolutions are filed by at least three contiguous towns and each\ntown submitting such resolution is contiguous to another town submitting\nthe same:\n 1. "Shall the town of ..... become a part of the Suffolk County\nDistrict Court System?"\n 2. "If the town of ... becomes a part of the Suffolk County District\nCourt System, shall the office of the justice of the peace be abolished\nwithin such town?"\n In any town which hereafter becomes a part of the Suffolk county\ndistrict court system wherein the voters approve the proposition to\nabolish the office of justice of the peace the said office of each of\nthe incumbent justices of the peace shall be deemed abolished at the\ntime when the existing term of each such incumbent justice of the peace\nexpires.\n
