§ 142. Workmen's compensation insurance on public works. Each contract\nto which the state, any public department or official thereof, or a\ncommission appointed pursuant to law is a party and which is of such a\ncharacter that the employees engaged thereon are required to be insured\nby the provisions of the workmen's compensation law shall contain a\nstipulation that the same shall be void and of no effect unless the\nperson or corporation making or performing the same shall secure\ncompensation for the benefit of, and keep insured during the life of\nsaid contract, such employees, in compliance with the provisions of such\nlaw.\n
